For we wrestle not against flesh and blood (Eph 6:11 – 12)

We are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against:

  • The devil’s schemes
  • Evil Rulers
  • Evil Authorities of the unseen world
  • Mighty powers in this dark world
  • Evil spirits in the heavenly realms
  • We even wrestle with our inner being, “Another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to sin that is still within me.” (Rom. 7:23)

Wrestling – (Greek word pale, pronounced pal’-ay a contest between two in which each endeavors to throw the other, and which is decided when the victor is able to hold his opponent down with his hand upon his neck

  • Do you really believe that you can stand against the schemes of the devil by yourself?
  • Do you think that you can you stand against evil rulers?
  • Do you really think that you can have a wrestle off with the evil authorities of the unseen world?
  • Do you think that you can stand up to the Mighty powers in this dark world?
  • Can you stand against the powers of the dark world?
  • Can you stand against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms?
  • Do you think that you deal with the Evil spirits in the heavenly realms?
  • What success have you had with the power within that is at war with your mind?

An example of wrestling is found in the book of Job in our Bible. This wrestling match seem to be all one sided until the Great I Am enters the ring and tags in. The match was all but over after God tagged the worn out man named Job.  Before God tagged in, Job was down to nothing but misery and suffering because his opponent was a wild man and he hit him with everything, things like robbery, the drop kick of death, sickness hold, depression lock, pinned with hopelessness, kicked with discouragement, knock down with desertion, slapped with disloyalty, and even the kitchen sink was thrown at him.  In Job’s corner was a core group of so called friends and a wife who suggested that Job just give up and curse God. Job friends accused him of some apparent fault because his type of trouble just didn’t happen to good people for no reason. His friends kept trying to get Job to repent of what ever it was that was causing this terrible wrestling match that just seem to keep going.  All his friends wanted him to tap out so that this match might come to an end.

Job had nothing left but his integrity in this awful wrestling match.  Job was about to be counted out while his opponent held him down in submission, when all of a sudden his tag team mate decided that enough was enough. The referee had counted to 2 and ready to count 3 and pronounce you’re out! It was then that the  presence of the great Wrestler known as I AM interrupted the match and tagged his team mate in a glorious way.  There was no hope for the opponent when he enter the ring and began throwing this vile and disrespectful creature around with the greatest ease, there was no matching the might of I am, The match was over and Job’s corner was made to repent for their lack of support and their assumptions of guilt.  The championship belt was given back to Job and the prizes that he received for his steadfastness was so overwhelming that Job could be seen praising the Great I Am with all of his renewed might.  He won twice more of what he had before the match of the century.

Now that is a great example of how to wrestle and not give in to tapping out just because the match looks like it all but over. I Am is waiting to tagged in for those matches that you are been told that you can’t win, don’t believe those well meaning friends, even your love ones who suggest that you curse God and quit! Once again adorn yourself with the Champion ship belt that says Child of God, World Champion Overcomer!

  • Verse 19 It is pleasant to see dreams come true, but fools refuse to turn from evil to attain them
  • Verse 23 A poor person’s farm may produce much food, but injustice sweeps it all away

  1. How are you at accepting your parent’s discipline?
  2. How are you at accepting the LORD’s discipline?
  3. Do you have an appetite for violence?
  4. Have you ever open your mouth and just ruin everything?
  5. Do you want much but get little in life?

  10. Do you want to be respected or find yourself headed for destruction?

Memory Verse:  Proverbs 13:19 “It is pleasant to see dreams come true, but fools refuse to turn from evil to attain them.”

applicationNotice the nuggets of gold, if you want to see your dreams come true, then you must turn from evil to attain them properly with the LORD’s blessing.

Ways that godliness guards a godly person, and ways the wicked cause shame and disgrace, choose very carefully, you will either be respected or find yourself headed for destruction!

Proverbs 29 – Authority/Power

Today we all should be in chapter 29 because it  is the 29th day of the month.

Today’s foundation verse is verse 2 which states, “When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice.  But when the wicked are in power, they groan.

Notice the change in this verse from in authority to in power, the difference could mean your life may be in great peril.

When the godly are in authority:

  • The people rejoice
  • The man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father
  • A just king gives stability to his nation
  • Righteous people escape the trap of sin, and shout for joy
  • The godly care about the rights of the poor
  • The wise will calm anger
  • The upright seek to help the blameless people
  • The wise quietly hold back their anger
  • The king judges the poor fairly
  • Discipline children produces wisdom
  • The godly will live to see the downfall of the wicked who are in authority who allow sin to flourish
  • People are joyful because they obey the law
  • The people walk in humility which brings honor
  • The people trust the LORD and this means safety
  • The people understand that justice comes from the LORD
  • The righteous despise the unjust

When the wicked are in power:

  • The people stubbornly refuses to accept criticism
  • The people groan
  • The men hang around with prostitutes, and their wealth is wasted
  • A unjust  king demands bribes and it destroys his nation
  • There are those who flatter their friends which lays a trap for their feet
  • Evil people are trapped by sin
  • The wicked don’t care about the rights of the poor
  • Mockers get a whole town agitated
  • A wise person takes a fool to court but gets no satisfaction
  • The bloodthirsty hate blameless people
  • Fools vent their anger
  • Rulers may pay attention to liars, which could end in all of his advisers being wicked
  • Undisciplined children causes their mothers to be disgraced
  • Sin flourishes when the wicked are in authority
  • When the people refuse to accept divine guidance, they run wild
  • Fools speak without thinking
  • A servant pampered from childhood becomes a rebel
  • Angry people start fights and hot-tempered people commit all kinds of sin
  • People full of pride end in humiliation
  • Thieves are assisted by the people and those who are sworn to tell the truth , dare not testify
  • Those who fear people are caught in a dangerous trap
  • Many seek the ruler’s favor
  • The wicked despise the godly

If you are a godly person then as you read this list you can see in our society the effects of the wicked in power.

Perhaps you even hear the people groaning because of the effects of the wicked going after absolute power in our society.

The points under the wicked in power is just what we need to be praying about, things like those who refuse to accept criticism, the demand of bribes, people trap by sin, the rights of the poor, bloodthirsty people, agitators, fools who vent their anger, and rulers who listen to liars.  LORD pleas help us because we are in a pickle.

It really is Prayer Time!
